E-911 Disclosure

Effective Date: 20-May-2026

E-911 Disclosure

This E-911 Disclosure applies to Voice Elements services that involve voice calling over internet-based or VoIP infrastructure, including SIP Trunking, Microsoft Teams Calling Plans, Teams Direct Routing, and any other Voice Elements service through which you may place or receive telephone calls.

This E-911 Disclosure is incorporated into and should be read alongside our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. By accessing or using the Services, you agree to comply with this disclosure. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in our Terms of Use.

How E-911 Works Through Voice Elements Services

Voice Elements services use internet-based and VoIP technology to transmit calls, including calls to 911. Emergency calling through these services differs from traditional wireline 911 service in important ways that you should understand before using the services.

Limitations of E-911 Through VoIP and Internet-Based Services

Location Information Emergency calls placed through Voice Elements services rely on a registered service address that you provide. Emergency responders receive this registered address — not your actual physical location at the time of the call. If you are calling from a location other than your registered address, emergency responders may be dispatched to the wrong location.

Service Dependencies E-911 service through Voice Elements may not function correctly if:

  • Your internet connection is unavailable or degraded
  • There is a power outage affecting your equipment or network
  • The Voice Elements service is suspended, interrupted, or disconnected
  • Your device, software, or configuration is not properly set up
  • You are using a mobile device, laptop, or softphone away from your registered address
  • There is a failure of any third-party network, carrier, or system involved in routing the call

No Guarantee of Delivery Voice Elements does not guarantee that emergency calls will be completed, routed correctly, or delivered to the appropriate public safety answering point (PSAP) in all circumstances.

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Providing an accurate physical service address when setting up your Voice Elements account or services
  • Promptly updating your registered address whenever your service location changes
  • Ensuring that all users of your Voice Elements services understand the limitations of E-911 through VoIP and internet-based services
  • Informing any employees, contractors, or other users at your location about these limitations before they use the services

Availability of E-911

E-911 capability may vary by service and may require additional configuration or fees. Not all Voice Elements services include E-911 by default. Please contact Voice Elements or refer to your service documentation to confirm whether E-911 is available and enabled for your specific service.

Recommendation

Voice Elements strongly recommends that you maintain an alternative means of contacting emergency services, such as a traditional wireline telephone or a mobile cellular phone, at all locations where Voice Elements services are used. Do not rely solely on Voice Elements services to reach emergency services.

Voice Nexus Service (VNS) — Important E-911 Notice

Voice Nexus Service is an AI-powered voice automation platform designed for automated inbound and outbound calls handled by AI agents. VNS is not intended for use as a personal communications service and does not support end-user dialing of emergency services.

Because calls through VNS are managed by AI agents rather than live human users, the standard E-911 framework — which depends on a person being present to initiate and communicate during an emergency call — does not apply to VNS in the same way it applies to other Voice Elements services.

If your use case requires users to be able to reach emergency services, VNS is not an appropriate solution for that purpose. Voice Elements recommends that any environment using VNS maintain independent means of contacting emergency services that do not rely on the VNS platform.

Developers and businesses deploying VNS are responsible for ensuring that their end users have access to appropriate emergency calling alternatives.
